St. Luke’s Ministries - Kenya

Widow Marcella is one of St. Luke’s praying widows, praying 24/7. These widows are so amazing to see, and to hear how they pray. Marcella has been preparing porridge for the orphans in her house every morning and serving the orphans in the church. She has done this now for two months. She says she is called to do this for the rest of her life.

"God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them."

Thank you so much for caring about our brethren.  Apart from you, the reality of our love would be empty.  Because of your prayers, and your giving, and our joining our hearts and hands together with our “family,”  our love for our brethren becomes the deepest possible expression of our love for our Lord Jesus Christ. Indeed, when we help our brethren, we are helping Him, for CHRIST IN US IS THE HOPE OF GLORY.

Kenya is an extremely poor and impoverished area of Africa. In Kenya, Pastor Joshua, and his precious wife Abigael, care for many orphans, widows and other needy people with the help of our American families in Jesus Christ.  Please pray about giving to help our brethren in Kenya. The people Pastor Joshua and Sister Abigael minister to, live in absolute poverty, not because they are lazy, but because of the devastated economies of Africa. There are no factories, no businesses, and few jobs. Most of the Christian community lives by subsistence farming on a day to day basis. Because of those of you who are giving, and praying, we are seeing changes in their quality of living, and some of the young people are receiving an education which will give them opportunities for better paying jobs when they are older.  But, there is still great need.

Kenya has one of the highest malaria and HIV rates in the world.

Joshua and Abigael started sharing the gospel in Miwani and many received Christ. They reached out to widows whose husbands had died from Aids, and to grandparents who have had to become parents again at the age of 60 because their sons and daughters had died leaving them with their children.

Pastor Joshua and Sister Abigael have helped many that had been abandoned by the community, as well as putting 40 new roofs on  homes.  Being teachers by profession, they started a primary school for boys and girls, and a resident high school for girls, where they provide education, shelter and clothing.  They have helped 60 orphans get a high school education with a diploma through partnership with brothers and sisters in America.  All of them passed their exams, and thanks was given to the Lord.

Joshua and Abigael have a ministry where precious widows, whose hearts are pure and undefiled, pray 24/7.  This ministry is considered the very core of all that has been accomplished at St. Luke’s Ministry.

Much help is needed for very poor pastor’s, who suffer a lot, and are spreading the good news of the Lord Jesus Christ. These pastors will go without food, and basic necessities, to spread the gospel.

Pastor Joshua goes from place to place checking on the children, widows and the elderly making sure they are ok.  Sometimes homes are falling down and he does what he can to help.  When their hearts are broken, his is broken.

Joshua also pastors a church, and sister Abigael is constantly by his side assisting in whatever way is needed, both of them working tirelessly.  We praise God for this couple who has spent their lives helping and caring for others, including raising a new born baby whose mother died at its birth.

Back

This is a precious orphan child that Pastor Joshua and Sister Abigael adopted when her mother died giving birth to her.  Her name is Hadrienne, and she celebrated her first birthday June 1st. They are happy she has joined their family.  God has blessed Hadrienne with a godly home and family, and is loved by all the precious praying widows, and church family.

How many of us have to wear shoes like this?    Most people in Africa do not own a pair of shoes.
