Lepers living together with their families
The Afflicted Need our Help
“….we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.” 2 Corinthians 4:16 Some of the most beautiful saints I have met are the lepers of Tuni, Nidadavole, and Rajahmundry, India. In Tuni and Nidadavole, the lepers live in a colony, separated from society. The Tuni colony is next to the railroad, in Nidadovole it is next to a garbage dump. When we visit our brethren at Nidadovole, the fly’s from the dump cover everything and everyone, including us. Yet these dear saints show a joy that radiates Christ as clearly as anyone I have ever met this side of Heaven. It has not always been this way. When Pastor George was first led by the Holy Spirit to visit the Tuni colony, there was not much joy. The lepers had little help from either the government or from private charity. Most important they had little love from outsiders. They went into the surrounding villages each day to beg. Pastor George and his gospel team began by faith to visit the Tuni and Nidadovole colonies each month, preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, showing them the Love of God, and bringing them fresh vegetables, rice, clothing, and medical assistance. The donors of In Jesus’ Name Ministries have been helping with the cost of these gifts of love. Several years ago, a Christian brother, Leon, who is a carpenter and builder, came with me to India. He and his wife and family attend a small house church in Wisconsin. This brother was so deeply moved by the faith, courage, and love of these lepers, he went home, and shared his experience with his house church. After hearing about the lepers, and prayer, Leon’s house church began to give regular support to help the lepers. Leon began returning on his own each year, with one of his sons or another member of his house church, to live for two weeks with the lepers, and to get to know them on a personal basis. He would spend time with an interpreter learning about their childhood, and their lives. Being a builder, he built a church for them at one of the colonies. Through the love of Christ expressed through Pastor George and his team, by Leon and his house church, and our other donors, these lepers have grown wonderfully in their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. When I first visited these colonies, continued
