Pastor P. Sanjeeva Rao and his wife Raani

“When I am weak, then I am strong”
When I first meet Sanjeeva Rao in India seven years ago, he had been waiting for some time with his deacon to see me.  His striking appearance caught my attention immediately.

He was only 4 feet tall and I could see under his thin shirt that his spine and chest were terribly deformed. I then gazed at his deacon. He could not stand. He was also severely disabled from polio. He walked and pulled himself along on the ground with his hands.

In spite of these terrible disabilities Pastor Sanjeeva and his deacon had broad smiles on their faces and immediately stretched out their hands to greet me.

They had been patiently waiting for me and our India director Pastor George to return from visiting nearby village churches.

Quickly the Holy Spirit revealed to me the life and glory of Christ in these two godly men.  They exemplify to me the following central truths of the revelation of Christ in world.  In our Lord’s own words: “My power is made perfect in weakness.”  And in the words of the  Apostle Paul: “God chose the weak things of this world to shame the strong…When I am weak, then I am strong.”  1 Cor 1:27; 2 Cor 12:9-10

Would you pray about joining your heart and hands with Pastor P. Sanjeeva Rao in completing the construction of his house/church. $3,000 is needed to complete the doors, windows, plastering, and compound walls. Another $3,000 is needed to pay off two $1,500 loans he needed to take out during critical construction needed last year before the monsoon rains began. Precious American donors have given $8,673 to bring the construction goals to this date.

For the past several years I have had to privilege and honor of visiting Pastor Sanjeeva Rao, his dear wife, two children, and congregation. Up until this January they have been meeting outdoors in the street and in their tiny one room home. When I have held meetings at their home, the entire street would be closed down, and after the gospel, hundreds of people would kneel in prayer to receive the Lord Jesus Christ. This brother and his wife are tireless workers for Christ in spite of their disabilities. In one letter recently he reports on ministry efforts over the previous 6 weeks: “4 baptisms; 270 house visits; 8 hospital visits; 8 children and women classes; 1 marriage; 15 gospel meetings.” I don’t know of many American pastors with large congregations and staff who can match that!!!  Continued
