“40 years ago, the Lord called Sister Leyamma, and her husband to serve the Lord in this tribal and remote area. Shortly after they arrived, her husband tragically died from illness. This did not stop Leyamma, and she has continued faithfully in this difficult area as a witness for Jesus Christ.
She recently wrote the following to us:
“Greetings to you in the most holy name of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is coming soon…We are praying for you daily, we are praying for your family….We are very much thankful for your loving us and encouraging us in our ministry….I just wanted to pour out my heart before you. Please try to understand me….I am a widow, I am alone. I have no son, no husband, no relatives, and no parents….There are some widows living with me, how difficult it is to live in India at present…Please pray for my health, my ministry, the widows with me, and my incomplete house….It is my life prayer to see my house, and the home for me and the widows, completed. We will never forget you. We uphold you and our American brethren in our daily prayers….May the Lord bless you. Thanking you with much love in Jesus Christ, Sister R. Leyamma.”
Sandy and I first met Leyamma 12 years ago in Rajahmundry, India where she had come to meet us. A few years later, she arranged a medical outreach for Pastor George among tribal people in a mountainous area of India. She knows the tribal people, and had received permission from their leaders and the government officials for us to come. God has also been using her to encourage young pastors in this remote area, and she has been helping and encouraging the women and numerous widows in her village in their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
She is now over 60 years old and is still working tirelessly in the Lord’s service.
Since her husband’s death, she has lived in a small roadside room. She cooks on a fire outside, and has no indoor plumbing.
A year ago, with generous gifts from our donors we were able to provide funds for Sister Leyamma to purchase land, dig a bore well, and begin construction on a house/church for her to live in and hold meetings in. She has been praying for this for 40 years. She is still lacking approximately $4,000 to complete this goal. She also needs monthly support for her personal needs, and for the widows and young pastors she is helping as the Lord enables her.
Please Pray for this dear sister, for her ministry, and for the completion of her house/church.
