Dear Friends,
Greetings from Ghana.
New Year’s greetings from Ghana where we have survived a close-run presidential election on Dec. 7, which went to a runoff on Dec. 28, and a third run on Jan. 2, 2009. We are very glad the political campaign and promises are over and we have a new president - Prof. John Attah Mills. Presidential elections in Africa can be “something” and we are thankful to the Lord for a peaceful atmosphere after several weeks of tension by political party followers. We have recovered from the holiday season and are back doing our jobs and activities for the New Year. We anticipate expansion in our work this year and are full of enthusiasm looking forward eagerly to what each day will bring. Schools have reopened and we are giving out certificates to students who studied the Bible lessons with us last year. The Mail Box Club office is again helping us this year with Bible lessons to disciple 20,000 junior high students which will be ready by February for distribution. Due to the enrollment increase on our Discipleship Program we had a meeting to prepare our volunteers for the first quarter activities on Jan, 10. I spoke on developing a passion for the lost and sharing God’s love with them in a way they will understand, “sowing the seed––the right amount and the right way.” Volunteer work teams have been a great help to the growth of the work, teaching and grading the lesson workbooks, some as many as 200 students. With additional funds we hope to reach out to all the new schools on time during this semester by renting mini- vans and taxis for team members’ transportation. We appreciate your continual prayers and support for the missionary work here to go forward. Thank you and God Bless. Fellow servants, Ohene & Jane Kumi
